    The CGQ offered real-time GPS monitoring during the ice canoeing race. Real-time monitoring allows you to view the position of participants on a map on the event’s website.

    Families of participants as well as event organizers can follow the teams’ progress in real time. The organization therefore benefits from additional visibility.

  2. Cruise itinerary simulator

    The project consisted of web mapping to help cruise lines plan itineraries. This cruise simulator allows them to visualize the ports and routes taken as well as the activities at each destination.

    Cruise operators can now view on a map the itineraries they want to offer their customers. Based on the ports they select as well as the preferred dates entered, the simulator suggests cruise packages available at that time.

    The CGQ offered real-time GPS monitoring during the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie. Dashboards were developed so that the organization could follow the convoy and at the same time, plan movements according to the speed and expected time of arrival.

    The Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie is now accessible in real time via the event’s website. This way, the population can follow the convoy and plan their movements accordingly. The team of the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie has also improved its efficiency since it can now coordinate the arrival at rest areas and the speed of the convoy.

    This project was designed to introduce geomatics to high school students in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. Activities related to GPS and geomatics software were presented.

    The CGQ met several schools in the region. The field of geomatics was presented to more than 500 students. Several activities were carried out with these students.

  1. Development of an automated system for acquiring and processing multispectral images embedded in a drone in a context of precision agriculture
    2009-2010

    This project aimed to develop an automated system for acquiring and processing multispectral aerial images. The system had to meet the requirements of the use of a drone as a collection platform in terms of lightness, dimension, and autonomy. The device developed in this project consists of 3 cameras, an inertial station combined with a GPS, a power source, and an ultra-compact computer.

    The acquisition system, which demonstrated its ability to obtain accurate and reliable information on crops, made it possible to target several areas of growth. Among other things, it confirmed the feasibility of offering farmers an image mosaic in order to show them the vegetation index for their fields.

     

  2. Remote sensing of shoreline algae

    The aim of this project was to develop a new inventory methodology using advanced technologies in the field of shoreline algae. Equipped with a multispectral camera, an unmanned aerial vehicle flew over several sections of Côte-Nord beach. The images acquired were processed to extract as much information as possible about the algal cover.

     

  3. Visible and thermal infrared remote sensing of the white-tailed deer using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)

    Industrial Innovation Scholarship Program (BMP) from the FQRNT, NSERC

    The objective of this project was to evaluate the performance of an aircraft-sensor system for the detection and inventory of white-tailed deer in a controlled environment.

    The use of UAVs for wildlife inventory was validated. This project also allowed the CGQ to be influential in various conferences in Québec and Canada.

Géomatisation des organisations
  1. Smart and digital organization

    The CGQ offers to support municipalities in their technological choices and for them to have a better understanding of their resources. The CGQ can perform a detailed analysis of human and software resources in order to offer a complete geomatization plan with recommendations that correspond to their true needs.

    Municipal managers receive a comprehensive report with recommendations for managing geomatics within their organization. They can then take concrete actions to improve geomatics operations.
